Deployment, hosting and maintenance
Deployment, hosting and website maintenance for small teams: releases that ship themselves, hosting sized to what your product really needs, and someone watching it after launch. Scoop News has served more than a million visitors for a few dollars a month; CrocoJobs runs its nightly pipelines, its AI and its web app for $0 a month.
Deployment and CI/CD
Every change should reach the live site the same safe way. Scoop News deploys itself after every change, with no downtime and nothing for the client to do. At CrocoJobs, every web release has to pass a type check, lint, the production build and a check that no development setting leaked into it, and the API ships as a container image.
Hosting that costs less
Most small products pay for servers that sit idle. Scoop News runs serverless on Google Cloud Run, which adds capacity within seconds when a story spreads and scales back down after; a cache answers a rush of requests for the same page with one database query, and photos come from a CDN at the right size. CrocoJobs cut its database traffic about eightfold to stay within free tiers.
Monitoring and maintenance
After launch, someone has to watch the disk fill up, the backups run and the updates land. CrocoJobs records every pipeline stage, request and AI call, measures its database and storage every night, and raises an alert when a limit gets close. On my own server, every component is pinned to an exact version and every update starts with a backup.
Security hardening
Security here means building and running things safely: permissions checked on every action, input validated, sign-in rate-limited, two-factor authentication (WonderTech), protection against cross-site request forgery and payments verified with the provider (Calculi). On my home server I audited every service the way an attacker would, and closed sixteen ports that had been open to the whole network.
Private access for small teams (VPN)
Not every tool belongs on the open internet. My server’s apps are reachable only over a WireGuard VPN (Tailscale): no port opened on the router, only approved devices can join, and a lost device is removed in one click. The front door even refuses devices that are merely on the local Wi-Fi: being inside the building is not the same as being trusted.
Self-hosted tools
Some subscriptions can run on hardware you own. My server, an old desktop PC, runs 21 containers: cloud storage and an office suite that edits Word, Excel and PDF files in the browser (Nextcloud and OnlyOffice), mail on its own domain, private DNS with ad blocking for every device, and shared drives, all for the cost of its electricity.
Website and server migration
CrocoJobs moved from my home server to managed cloud services without a rewrite: local GPU models became hosted ones, the local disk became cloud storage, and Airflow gave way to GitHub Actions running the same pipeline code. It was possible because every dependency sat behind an interface, which is how I build to keep the next move cheap.

Questions
How much does website maintenance cost per month?
Care (updates, backups, monitoring and small fixes) is 50 – 200 TND a month for clients in Tunisia, €40 – €150 a month in Europe and $40 – $170 a month elsewhere. Setting up deployment, CI/CD and monitoring once is 380 – 1,250 TND for clients in Tunisia, €230 – €750 in Europe and $250 – $830 elsewhere. Hosting itself is paid to the host.
Can you lower my hosting bill?
Often, by matching the hosting to the real traffic: serverless hosting that costs almost nothing when idle, a cache in front of the database, images from a CDN. A day of review (130 – 200 TND a day for clients in Tunisia, €80 – €110 a day in Europe and $80 – $120 a day elsewhere) shows where the money goes before anything is changed.
Do you do penetration testing?
No. I harden what I build and run: permissions, updates, private access, encrypted traffic and backups. A formal penetration test should come from a certified tester, and I can fix what it finds.
Where will my site be hosted?
Where it fits the product: my live projects run on Google Cloud Run, Vercel, Cloudflare, Render and Netlify. The accounts are opened in your company’s name.
