Web and mobile app development
Web and mobile app development for startups and small businesses: MVPs, SaaS products, booking platforms, progressive web apps and the back offices a company runs on, built to an agency’s standard without an agency’s layers or prices. Ahjez, a booking platform for Iraq, is live on the web, the App Store and Google Play; WonderTech runs its catalogue, clients and stock from a back office I built.
MVPs for startups
An MVP is the smallest product real customers can use. Ahjez went from a client’s idea to a working marketplace, with more than 60 businesses in Baghdad on its map. We broke the client’s raw requirements into sprint-sized tasks, tested every feature before release and reviewed each other’s code: it was built by a team of two, Yahya Bahloul and me.
At every hurdle the client knew the cost, the effect on the timeline and the options, so every decision stayed theirs. The architecture leaned on services that cost almost nothing while traffic is small and grow with it.
Mobile apps for iOS and Android (React Native)
One codebase, both stores. Ahjez’s apps are written in React Native with Expo and share their backend with the website: nearby businesses, booking, push notifications and the full business dashboard on the phone.
Getting into the stores is part of the job. I shipped the apps to the App Store and Google Play and guided the client through Apple’s privacy requirements and through Meta and Apple business verification, which called for a corporate tax registration and a D-U-N-S number.
Booking platforms
On Ahjez, a customer picks a service and a staff member and sees only the times that are really free: shifts, days off and existing bookings are all taken into account, in the business’s own time zone, so the same person can never be booked twice. New bookings reach the business in real time, and customers get a reminder the evening before through WhatsApp Business, which people in Iraq use far more than email.
SaaS products
A SaaS product needs more than features: accounts, plans, limits, and a way to run it without redeploying. CrocoJobs has Google sign-in, credits and quotas per plan, and an admin console with 118 settings, editable schedules and usage and spending analytics. Calculi sells an optional ad-free subscription through a Tunisian payment gateway.
Progressive web apps
A progressive web app installs to the home screen and works offline, without an app store. Calculi is one: 151,765 students have used it, 78% of them on a phone, and its calculations run in the browser and are checked on the server.
Back offices, CRM and ERP
WonderTech’s back office runs the business: a CMS with roles and two-factor sign-in, a CRM where a company that is both client and supplier has one identity, and inventory across several warehouses, valued by weighted average cost, FIFO or LIFO from a permanent ledger, in exact decimals.
My capstone takes tax files from receipt to a signed committee decision, with role-based access, a full audit trail, committee scheduling and minutes generated as signed PDFs.

Questions
How much does it cost to build an app?
A web app, SaaS or MVP usually falls in 3,750 – 11,250 TND for clients in Tunisia, €2,000 – €6,250 in Europe and $2,250 – $7,000 elsewhere; a mobile app for iOS and Android in 4,500 – 12,500 TND for clients in Tunisia, €2,500 – €7,500 in Europe and $2,750 – $8,250 elsewhere. Smaller changes and advice are billed by the day: 130 – 200 TND a day for clients in Tunisia, €80 – €110 a day in Europe and $80 – $120 a day elsewhere. You get a written quote after a first call about what the first version has to do.
How long does it take to build an MVP?
Ahjez, a web app and two native mobile apps on one backend, took six months. My capstone, a workflow platform with roles, scheduling and signed documents, took four. A smaller first version takes less: cutting the scope down to what customers need first is part of the work.
Do I need an app store app or a progressive web app?
A progressive web app installs from the browser, works offline and is one build for every phone: Calculi is one, and 151,765 students have used it without an app store. A store app makes sense when being on the App Store and Google Play matters to your customers, or when you need push notifications on every phone: Ahjez has both, sharing one backend.
Who owns the app and its accounts?
Your company. For Ahjez, the store and business accounts are in the client’s own company name.
Do you work alone or with a team?
Mostly alone, which keeps the price down and puts you in touch with the person writing the code. For larger builds I have worked in a team of two: Ahjez was built with feature branches, pull requests and code reviews.
